ARTIST’S STATEMENT
After taking early retirement I attended Hampstead School of Art in London for two years studying mosaic, abstract painting and sculpture culminating in an exhibition at the Sheridan Gallery before moving to Suffolk. I joined the Open Studios there and exhibited quite widely: Aldeburgh Gallery, Blackthorpe Barn, Harleston Gallery, Pond Gallery at Snape and Buckenham Gallery in Southwold amongst others.
Whilst living in Suffolk, I joined Gainsborough’s House Print Workshop and attended courses in various types of printmaking.
After moving to Cambridge, I became a member of Open Studios and Ovenden Contemporary Art with arranged exhibitions. I attended a long-running printing course at Curwen Print.
I moved to Brighton and joined BIP printing workshop, exhibiting at the Battersea Arts Fair with them.
I now live in Hove and I’m just starting to work and settle in after stopping work for three years due to arthritis.
I am interested in all sorts of media: I like to mix techniques not traditionally used together. It is a wonderful freedom from large canvasses to concertina art books.
My preferred practice is printmaking. I cover viscosity collagraphs, lino, screenprinting, drypoint, and mono. I have just completed a course on Mokulito.
My work is eclectic: still lifes, abstracts and representational.
